I finally did a simple project that had been on my to-do list for a long time!
I got this white vase at a local thrift store, but when I took it home and washed it, some of the finish flaked off, leaving an unattractive spot on one side. I simple turned the vase so that the flaked-off side faced the wall, and there the vase sat for many months.
Finally, the other day on a sunny lat-summer afternoon, I went outside and used up the last of a can of spray paint to paint my white vase black. Then, I sprayed on a few coats of clear sealant and—hey, presto!—I had an attractive new vase.
