On a recent trip to the South Island of New Zealand, I saw a variety of interesting signs!
This chiropractor has both national pride and a sense of humor!
This sign is part of a display at the earthquake-damaged ChristChurch Cathedral.
The sign says, “Country roads are not motorways. Slow down.” Fun fact: In New Zealand, the maximum speed limit is 60 mph…
The game of croquet appears to be taken quite seriously here.
This is, ahem, a giant statue of a dwarf in the Auckland airport.
The giant dwarf statue is on loan from Middle Earth. 🙂
A cute farm stand near Abel Tasman National Park.
Make sure to note who has the right of way on the one-lane bridges!
Lambing in progress!
A pretty sweet-looking MOTEL sign.
This motor camp awesomely repurposed some classic McDonald’s playground equipment!
There’s a crack will tree growing in Lake Wanaka, New Zealand that has become famous on social media. Taking photos of #ThatWanakaTree has become The Thing to Do for photographers and tourists.
I’m not a photographer, but I am a tourist, and I visited the tree on a bright, breezy spring day in November of 2017. Although there were several other visitors while I was there, I did get a few moments alone with the tree.
Here are my best efforts as a non-expert photographer wielding a point-and-shoot Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 digital camera at mid-afternoon on a sunny, windy day.
